John Harmsen - Assistant Varsity, Sophomore, & Freshman

John HarmsenLincoln is excited to add another former player and Lincoln graduate to its coaching staff this year in the hiring John Harmsen.  Many of us remember John as a starter on the 2005 team that finished the season with a notable 31 wins and an Elite Eight State Tournament appearance.  Harmsen’s team that year also set a state record for most three-point field goals (286) in a season. And still today, Harmsen holds the record here at LCHS for most 3-point field goals (113) in a season.

After Harmsen’s high school career, he went on to play college basketball and graduate from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

This year, Coach Harmsen will serve as freshman assistant.  His former Railer experience, his shooting expertise, and his overall competitive drive will help mold our young players into solid varsity contributors.  His knowledge of the game will undoubtedly be an asset to the development of the program. The Railers are proud to have Coach Harmsen on the bench this year. We look forward to watching another former Railer emerge into a respected coach and solid role model for our young people.
